Members Only Home Garden Tour

Michael started creating native garden areas in his suburban yard three years ago in both sun and shade.  He uses yard signs to let his neighbors know about the habitat he is creating for wildlife.

Tour of Moira Davenport's garden

Members Only Home Garden Tour

Moira is a long-time gardener who is transitioning her garden to native plants.  Her neighborhood has a heavy deer population so she is focusing on deer-resistant plants in the front, while her fenced-in shady backyard allows her to grow many different plants that love moist, shady areas.

Caryl has a mix of mostly sun with some part-sun, and deer pressure all around. The last few years Caryl has expanded the number and variety of native plantings, captured more runoff, and reduced lawn area.

Public Welcome Free Event Group Tour

Wild Ones member Lauren Hubbard will lead a tour of a meadow rain garden at the Izaac Walton League National Headquarters.  The meadow and rain garden were installed in 2020 under the guidance of Larry Weaner Landscape Associates consisting of innovative designs that encourage naturally occurring native plant communities and resilient landscapes, with the goal of creating a lower maintenance management plan.

Public Welcome Chapter Meeting Program/Speaker Presentation Public Restroom Free Public Parking

Paul Tukey, Director of Environmental Stewardship for the Glenstone Museum, will give a talk about the museum's land management practices.   He will also describe his current project to restore a nearby historic church and its surroundings.  Passes to visit the museum and grounds were given to anyone interested (usually reservations are required several months in advance.)
