On June 8th Vasna invited us to see her wonderful pollinator garden/Gratitude garden. The pollinator garden with native plants was installed in 2021. A lowly hellstrip was transformed into an amazing area that holds 90% native plants (more than 30 species). In the summer, it is teeming with all sorts of pollinators. The garden has been a place for neighbors to connect outdoors safely, watch children play and enjoy all the flowers and life present. You might say that this all started when the Covid-19 pandemic mandated a national lock down in 2020, and gardening outdoors provided much needed joy and comfort. The youth in the neighborhood expressed interest in gardening, and with the support of their parents, Kensington Heights Youth Garden Club was started. This is a great example of how one garden can make a difference in many lives.
